Yerushalmi Kugel

Sweet caramelized noodle kugel with a little “kick” of pepper!

Yerushalmi Kugel

• 4 ½ C Water
• ½ stick Margarine (4 T)
• ½ C White Granulated Sugar
• 1 t Black Pepper
• 1 t Salt
• 12 ounces Fine noodles/Angel Hair pasta, broken up
• 2 Eggs
• 3 T Brown sugar
• 3 T Vegetable Oil


Heavily grease or spray a Bundt pan or round pan. Set aside.

In a pot, mix water, white sugar, margarine, salt, and pepper, and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat and add noodles and stir. Cover for 15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a small bowl, mix eggs, brown sugar, and oil. After the above 15 minutes, add the egg mixture to the noodles and stir. Cover for another 15 minutes.

Do not drain the noodle mixture. Pour noodles mixture into pan and bake for 1 ¼-1 ½ hours at 350 degrees. The top should be golden brown and slightly crusty. Remove from oven and immediately loosen edges of kugel and invert on a plate. Serve hot.
